Story Idea: Act It Out!

Prepare:

Use the costumes and have the teacher and helper act as Mary and the angel

Recap & Intro:

- Ask the kids if they can remember last weeks lesson and prompt them to remember that the angel said Elizabeth would have a baby, even though she was very old. Her baby - John - had a special message for everyone -- Jesus could forgive their sins!

- Tell the kids that in today's story, an angel went to talk to somebody else!

Act it Out:

Angel: Hello Mary! You are blessed and God is with you!

Mary: (Looks afraid & confused): Umm... what do you mean?

Angel: Don't be afraid Mary - God is pleased with you! You are going to have a baby and you'll name him Jesus!

Mary: But I don't have a husband...

Angel: God is going to do a miracle, just like he did for Elizabeth - she is going to have a baby, even though she's very old! Your baby Jesus will be the promised King and his Kingdom will last forever!

Mary: I trust you and I trust God - let it all happen as you have said!
