Week 4: God Wants to Know His People - Israel!
Lesson Objective:
God showed his power by saving Israel from Egypt and leading them across the Red Sea on dry land.
Bible Passage:
Exodus 13:17 - 14:31 (Crossing the red sea)
Memory Verse:
Exodus 14:31 - Because of the mighty power he had used against the Egyptians, the Israelites worshiped him and trusted him and his servant Moses.
Story Idea: Watch It & Read!

Have the kids watch the following youtube video then read Exodus 14:31:

Quiz Questions:
1. After all of the plagues in Egypt, did the Pharoah decide to let the people go? Yes
2. How did God show the people where to walk? He led them with a cloud
3. The people camped beside a sea, which one? The Red Sea
4. What did Pharoah do then? Changed his mind and chased after the people
5. How do you think God's people felt when they could hear Pharoahs army coming but couldn't cross the sea? Terrified - they told Moses that staying as slaves in Egypt would have been better than this!
6. What did God tell Moses to do? Stretch out his hands and staff over the water
7. What happened? The water divided and the people could cross
8. God did an incredible miracle for his people that day, how did they respond? They praised Him
9. What do you think this story tells us about God? He's powerful and He cares for His people
10. What does that mean for us? God loves us, we can trust His power, He always has a plan - even if we don't see it
Game Idea: Crossing the Sea!
- Set up a sea (two ropes/broom handles/lines of markers separated by two metres) at one side of the room
- Place markers around the outskirts of the room for the kids to run around
- Play music and have the kids run around the markers and through the sea
- When you pause the music, anyone standing in the sea is out
- The last player remaining wins!
Craft Idea: Red Sea Collage

Before the lesson:
- Download and print the Red Sea template on blue paper and the Moses template on white paper
- Cut out the Moses', leaving a tab around the feet to glue him on
- Gather blue tissue paper, yellow paper, colouring pencils, glue and scissors
Have the kids:
- Cut their sea to separate
- Cut along the lines to make the wave strips
- Glue their blue water pieces on to their yellow page, then bend up the edges of the waves
- Glue bits of tissue paper in the water and glue on their Moses
Prayer Idea: Dice Prayers
- Download and print the dice prayers sheet and use a die from the cupboard
- Have each kid roll the die and pray according to the number rolled
