Week 2: God Loves His People - And He is Powerful!
Lesson Objective:
God is powerful - he showed Moses that he was powerful enough to rescue His people from Egypt!
Bible Passage:
Exodus 4:1-11 (Moses Miracles)
Memory Verse:
Exodus 4:12- "Now Go! When you speak, I will be with you and give you the words to say."
Story Idea: Tell it with Props!
You will need:
- Stick/walking stick (hold in your hand)
- Rubber snake from cupboard (keep tucked in your jacket)
Introduce:
- Ask the kids if they can remember last weeks lesson
- Prompt them to remember that God spoke to Moses through the burning bush and asked Him to help rescue God's people
- Ask the kids how they think Moses might have felt about being asked to do such a BIG job for God? (Scared, nervous, not good enough)
- Ask the kids if they have ever felt scared or unsure about something
- Ask the kids if they know what a miracle is (something amazing and unexplainable that God does)
Tell:
- Moses was feeling VERY unsure about doing God's task
- God had asked HIM to go to Egypt and help free the people from the nasty king that was keeping them there
- Moses was worried that nobody would listen to him or believe that God had really sent him!
- Moses said, 'But God, what happens if nobody believes me? What happens if nobody believes that you spoke to me?!'
- So God told Moses to throw the stick that he was holding onto the ground (throw stick on ground)
- Just then, God did something AMAZING - God did a MIRACLE
- When the stick hit the ground, it turned into a snake! (Quickly swap snake in your jacket for stick)
- Moses was amazed at how POWERFUL God was!
- God told Moses to pick the snake up by it's tail, and when he did it became a stick again! (Pick snake up and swap for stick again)
- God said that Moses could do these Miracles again for God's people, to prove to them that God really was with Him
- God promised to help Moses save his people!

Game Idea: Snakes and Sticks
- Have the kids stand in a group
