LEADERS HUB
Year 1, Term 1, Week 9: Ideas for Senior Group
Week 9: Jesus Saved Us - And we'll be with Him in Heaven!
Lesson Objective:
One day we'll be with Jesus in Heaven! Until then, God has given us the Holy Spirit to help and guide us on Earth.
Bible Passage:
John 14:1-18
Memory Verse:
John 14:3 - After I have done this, I will come back and take you with me. Then we will be together.
Story Idea: Lego Creationary & Read It !
You will need:
- Lego
Split the groups into teams (2 or 3 per group work well):
- One team member goes to the leader to be given a word relating to the story (eg. house, cross, love)
- This person should make something out of lego so that the other team members can guess the word, the first to guess correctly wins a point!
Have the kids read John 14:1-19, explain that this is Jesus talking to His disciples before He is crucified.
Quiz Questions:
1. What did God create us for? To be part of His family - to know and follow Him, to have a relationship with Him!

4. How did Jesus fix this? By dying on the cross for us
5. What does Jesus say in the passage that He is going to do? Prepare a place for us in His father's house
6. The disciples are confused - they ask Jesus how to get to where He is going, what is Jesus' answer? 'I am the way, the truth and the life'
7. What do you think Jesus means by this? He is the way to get to God - Jesus provides the way to fix our broken relationship with God, so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with God

Game Idea: Blind-folded Snake!
Before the lesson, gather:
- One large bucket (top of the cupboard)
- Three coloured small plastic balls for each team (one colour per team)
- Blindfolds
- Split the kids into teams (four per team works well)
- Each team should form a snake line (hands on shoulders of the person in front) and blindfold every team member but the last person in line
- Have each team start in one corner of the play space, place a bucket in the centre
- Assign each team a ball colour and scatter the balls around the room
- The last person in the team has to guide the entire snake to walk to their objects, pick them up and put them in the bucket with only taps which are passed along from the back to the front:
* Tap on right shoulder - go right
* Tap on left shoulder - go left
* Tap on head, pick up ball or put ball in bucket
- The first team to finish wins!
Remind the kids that one day we'll be with God in Heaven - until then, if we love and trust God, we'll do what He asks us to, and the Holy Spirit will guide and help us along the way!

- Before the lesson, print out the dice prayers sheet
- Have the kids sit in a circle and take turns rolling the dice, praying based on the number they roll
