Week 9: Jesus Saved Us - And we'll be with Him in Heaven!
Lesson Objective:
One day we'll be with Jesus in Heaven! Until then, God has given us the Holy Spirit to help and guide us on Earth.
Bible Passage:
John 14:1-18
Memory Verse:
John 14:3 - After I have done this, I will come back and take you with me. Then we will be together.
Story Idea: Object Lesson & Tell It!
You will need:
- Sheet of Paper
- Scissors
Fold and cut the piece of paper to make a HOUSE, PLANE, ROCKET, then CROSS, telling the story as you go:
* God created us all - He wanted us to be part of His special family, to know and trust Him - like we were living in His HOUSE as part of His family!
* The problem is, we have all done the wrong thing by God - and that should mean that we can't be part of God's family anymore
* Our sin should separate us from God!
* That's a big problem!
* God Knew we would need somebody to fix this... Somebody to save us from our sin!
* He was going to send a special SAVIOUR to help us!
* AEROPLANES are REALLY COOL - but God's saving plan wasn't to send a PLANE!
* ROCKET SHIPS are even cooler! But God's plan to save us was even better than a ROCKET SHIP!
* God sent His only Son, Jesus....
* Jesus was perfect and He loved us enough to die on the CROSS for us, so that we could be forgiven for the wrong things we have done
* This is such excellent news!
* Jesus has fixed the sin problem! He died so we can be part of God's family!
* Before Jesus died, He told his disciples that His father's house has MANY rooms, and He was going to prepare a place for them (and for us!)
* Jesus said that one day He would take us to live with Him as part of God's family
* Jesus also said that He would give us someone to help us until then - the Holy Spirit who can help us and guide us!

Quiz Questions:
1. What did God create us for? To be part of His family - to know and follow Him, to have a relationship with Him!
2. Does our sin affect our relationship with God? Yes
3. What (or who) was God's plan to fix this? Jesus
4. How did Jesus fix this? By dying on the cross for us
5. Can we be part of God's family thanks to Jesus? Yes
6. Will we get to spend forever with God? Yes
7. Will God and the Holy spirit help and guide us? Yes
Game Idea: Play Dough Pictionary!
- Before the lesson, make a batch of playdough - find the recipe here
- Split the kids into teams and give each team a ball of play dough on a plate
- Have one kid from each team come to you to be given a word relating to the story (eg. rocket, plane, cross, house, Jesus, family etc.)
- The team member should make play dough creations to help their team guess the word - the first team to guess wins a point!
Remind the kids that God sent Jesus to die for us, to save us from sin, so that we could be part of God's family!
Craft Idea: God's House Collage!

- Before the lesson, download and print the house roof, windows and doors templates on different colours of paper, then cut out
- Have the kids glue paddle pops to a sheet and then glue on the roof, windows and doors to make a house!
Remind the kids that God wants us to be part of His family and we can be part of His family because of Jesus!
Prayer Idea: Dice Prayers
- Before the lesson, print out the dice prayers sheet
- Have the kids sit in a circle and take turns rolling the dice, praying based on the number they roll
