Week 9: Jesus Saved Us - And we'll be with Him in Heaven!
Lesson Objective:
One day we'll be with Jesus in Heaven! Until then, God has given us the Holy Spirit to help and guide us on Earth.
Bible Passage:
John 14:1-18
Memory Verse:
John 14:3 - After I have done this, I will come back and take you with me. Then we will be together.
Story Idea: Object Lesson & Tell It!
You will need:
- Sheet of Paper
- Scissors
Fold and cut the piece of paper to make a HOUSE, PLANE, ROCKET, then CROSS, telling the story as you go:
* God created us all - He wanted us to be part of His special family, to know and trust Him - like we were living in His HOUSE as part of His family!
* The problem is, we have all done the wrong thing by God - and that should mean that we can't be part of God's family anymore
* That's a big problem!
* God Knew we would need somebody to fix this... He was going to send a special SAVIOUR to help us!
* AEROPLANES are REALLY COOL - but God's saving plan wasn't to send a PLANE!
* ROCKET SHIPS are even cooler! But God's plan to save us was even better than a ROCKET SHIP!
* God sent His only Son, Jesus....
* Jesus was perfect and He loved us enough to die on the CROSS for us, so that we could be forgiven for the wrong things we have done
* This was such happy news!
* Jesus has fixed the problem! He died for the wrong things we have done so we can be part of God's family!
* Jesus said that one day we will get to be in Heaven with Him....
* Jesus said that God's house has LOTS of rooms and we'll get to be part of His family and live in His house forever! Just like God intended!

Game Idea: Family Match!
Before the lesson:
- Download and print the house pictures: one each on orange, white and green paper, and cut out
- Download and print the animal pictures and cut out
- Blue tack the three houses to the wall around the room with the large frog under the green house, large tiger under the orange and large zebra under the white
- Attach a spot of blue tack to the back of each little picture and make sets of three pictures (one frog, tiger and zebra in each)
For the game:
- Give each kid a set of pictures
- Have them walk around the room and stick their animal below the house that it belongs in (tigers under the tiger etc.) until all the animals are in the right house!
Remind the kids that tigers were made to be part of tiger families, frogs are part of frogs families, zebras are part of zebra families and God made us to be part of His family and live in His house!
Craft Idea: God's House Collage!

- Before the lesson, download and print the house roof, windows and doors templates on different colours of paper, then cut out
- Have the kids glue paddle pops to a sheet and then glue on the roof, windows and doors to make a house!
Remind the kids that God wants us to be part of His family and we can be part of His family because of Jesus!
Activity Idea: Sing 'Jesus Loves Me'
Play the following youtube video and sing and dance along to the song with the kids!
Prayer Idea: Ball Prayers
- Have the kids sit in a circle and pass around a ball
- Whoever is holding the ball should take a turn to pray
- Encourage them to thank God for their families and to thank God that we can be part of God's family!
