Week 1: Jesus is coming - The Prophet's foretold it!
Lesson Objective:
It was always God's plan to send King Jesus to rescue us, God's prophets tell us so!
Bible Passage:
Isaiah 1:1-4, 7:1-14, Micah 5:1-5 (Prophecy about Jesus)
Memory Verse:
Isaiah 7:14 - A Virgin is pregnant. She will have a son and will name him Immanuel.
Week 2: Jesus is coming - John the Baptist prepares!
Lesson Objective:
God sent John the Baptist before Jesus to prepare the people and remind them to follow God.
Bible Passage:
Luke 1: 5-22, 57-66, Luke 3:3 (The birth of John the Baptist)
Memory Verse:
Luke 3:3 - So John went along the Jordan valley, telling the people, 'Turn back to God and be baptised! Then your sins will be forgiven.'
Week 3: Jesus is coming - The angel announces it!
Lesson Objective:
God sent an angel to tell Mary that she would have a son and call him Jesus. He would be a son of God and a King whose Kingdom will never end.
Bible Passage:
Luke 1:26-38 (Angel speaks to Mary)
Memory Verse:
Luke 1:32: He will be great and will be called the Son of God Most High. The Lord God will make him King, as his ancestor David was.
Week 4: Jesus is here! - He is Born!
Lesson Objective:
Jesus was born to Mary in a stable in Bethlehem and lay down in a food trough. He was not a typical rich King!
Bible Passage:
Luke 2:1-7 (Birth of Jesus)
Memory Verse:
Luke 2:7 - She gave birth to her first-born Son. She dressed him in baby clothes and laid him on a bed of hay, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Week 5: Jesus is here! - The wise men visit Him!
Lesson Objective:
The wise men realised who Jesus was and wanted to worship him, Herod also realised who Jesus was and wanted to hurt him! Jesus is King and we should worship him!
Bible Passage:
Matthew 2:1-15
Memory Verse:
Matthew 2:2 - The Wise men said 'Where is the Child born to be King of the Jews? We saw His star in the east and we have come to worship him!'
Week 6: Jesus is Here! - The Shepherds Visit Him!
Lesson Objective:
The angel tells the shepherds to visit Jesus because he is a special baby- he was sent to be the saviour!
Bible Passage:
Luke 2:8-20 (shepherds)
Memory Verse:
Luke 2:11 - This very day in King David's home town a Saviour was born for you. He is Christ the Lord!
Week 7: Responding to Jesus - He came to save us!
Lesson Objective:
Jesus came to Earth to save us - to re-establish his relationship with us by forgiving our sins
Bible Passage:
John 3:1-18 (Jesus & Nicodemus)
Memory Verse:
John 3:16 - God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.
Week 8: Responding to Jesus - Sharing His love!
Lesson Objective:
God loved us so much that he sent Jesus to die for us even though we did the wrong thing. God wants us to love others, even if they do the wrong thing against us, because that is what he did for us!
Bible Passage:
Luke 6:27-36 (Love your enemies)
Memory Verse:
Luke: 6:35 - But love your enemies and be good to them. Lend without expecting to be paid back. Then you will get a great reward and you will be the true children of God in Heaven. He is good even to people who are unthankful and cruel.
